Sunday Drivers goes all fruity.

Today's SD stayed relatively close to home as we realized the urgency of garden and orchard planning.  We laid out three rows for fruit trees and set a tentative boundary for the garden.  I am going to rent a rear-tine tiller from the local rental place and get to work on tilling the garden plot this week!

Poultry Palace

I've had a few requests for photos of my pallet chicken house, so here are a few construction shots.  The boy has been off from school for about 17 weeks now (or at least that's how it feels), so there has been little progress this week.

Sunday Drivers at Savary Provincial Park

Savary Provincial Park at Plympton

Today's edition of Sunday Drivers takes us to Savary Provincial Park, just past Digby, on the Fundy coast.   Both Laur and I were immediately reminded of Seabeck State Park in Washington State.  We arrived just before lunch and low tide was mid-afternoon, but there was already a lot of beach exposed. Just right for discovering treasures.

"I could see Perladise by the dashboard liiiiiight...."

Temps in the Valley reached a very balmy 22 degrees today (felt like 26 though.  Predicting a LOW of 16 tonight... crazy-talk)!  Because The Boy was off from school, we took a wee drive south in search of some Nova Scotia topographical maps.

ack!

First peepers, first tick.

Peep! Peep!

It's late and I was just getting ready to hit the sack when I saw Tru go to the door and listen.  Taking my cue from him, I opened the door and had a quick look around.   The first thing I noticed is the reflection from the moon off the car - Laur parked the car near to the house which caused some unfamiliar reflections.

Congratulations New Zealand!

The Kiwis have joined the rest of the progressive western nations by acknowledging same-sex marriage (although same-sex unions have been legally recognized since 2005) .  Take a look at what happened in Parliament when the results of the Third Reading vote were tabled. (Of course you already know what happened!)

Almost got a sunburn today... almost...

Sunny and 14 degrees here today. Spent the day in short-sleeves, working on Cluckingham Palace.

I've got another blog on the side.

Yes, it's true. I've been seeing another blog on the side.  I'm sorry you had to find out this way, but really, now that it's in the open I think we'll all feel much better.

Sunday Drivers

Old train bridge at Middleton's Riverside Park
We started today's driving adventure by trying to find Nictaux Falls Hiking Trail. But I'd forgotten the guidebook and couldn't remember the directions, so we simply took a wee bit of a drive.  We started at Middleton's Riverside Park, where we walked the perimeter of the seven acre park.  It had snowed a wee bit last night, and the melted droplets decorated foliage throughout the park.

Puking kid, hooting owl and a toasty house.

The Boy has been predicting all week that he was going to be sick tonight.   Several times this week he's told us that he's "going to be sick on Friday" and each time we've told him that it's rather difficult to predict when you're going to be sick.

Local dudes done good.

Local dude... As Kookum would say - this is an ear worm.

First heard this a few weeks ago, something in the background on CBC about local rap artist, blah blah blah.  I don't care for rap, so I wasn't really paying attention.  Then I heard the chorus, and thought it was cheesy, but kind of catchy.

Sunday Drivers

A super-exciting Sunday Drivers is on deck today!  But first, I have to go out and do it.

Graphic Images after the jump - Groups call for end to dog shoots

I don't want to make this a political blog, but I feel so strongly about this issue that I can't help but speak out. Please be warned that if you click on this post, you will be exposed to very graphic images of dead dogs.  This was an article bravely published by the Winnipeg Sun in their online edition.

Sunday Drivers

Sunday temperatures were predicted to be in the double digits, so we decided to head out early and catch the low tide at Scots Bay.  SB has become one of our new favourite places with its gravel beach, fresh water run offs and level terrain.  It's a great place to explore, find treasures, slop around in the mud and get clean again!
